Season of Salvation

The prophet Jeremiah wrote, “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.”

These are some of the saddest words in Scripture, and reading it always brings me to tears. I think of all the people we have shared the gospel with since 1944, here on the streets of Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles. And I wonder, did they miss their season to seek salvation?

Recently a friend asked what I was praying for God to do in the coming months here at the Mission, and I immediately responded, “Summer is the season for salvation on Skid Row!”

A terrible shadow of evil has swept over America’s inner-cities. Drugs are sold and used openly. Prostitution is widespread. Women face staggering levels of violence. Murders have become commonplace. Mothers and their children are routinely abused and abandoned by the men who promised to love and protect them.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To everything there is a season.” Please pray for God’s power and protection as we share the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray that this summer will be the season of salvation for precious souls who are trapped in sin and addictions here on Skid Row.

Your gift today will help us share God’s Good News during these summer months, and help put good food on the plates of families and children who are truly hungry.

You may use a credit card, or an Electronic Funds Transfer when you give through our website, fjm.org, or when you phone toll free, 1-844-FJM-FOOD. If it is more convenient, make out your summer food donation check to Fred Jordan Mission, and mail it to me here at the Mission, Willie Jordan, PO Box 12345, Covina, CA 91722.

My deepest thanks for the love and encouragement your support brings to so many precious souls in need of God’s love, and yours.

Join us on the Mission’s weekly television show, right from the streets of Skid Row. Sunday mornings, 8:00 AM, KCOP-TV, Channel 13.

Blessings,

Willie Jordan (Mrs. Fred Jordan)
