SIN-Good News, or Bad?

"Sin," says John Alexander, "is the best news there is.” What a strange statement!

John Alexander’s complete statement said, “Sin is the best news there is, because with sin there's a way out. You can't repent of confusion or psychological flaws inflicted by your parents – you're stuck with them. But you can repent of sin."

Alexander was correct, because the Bible clearly says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) But don’t despair! God paid the penalty for our sin when His only Son, Jesus, died on the cross. Ephesians 2 reads, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God. Salvation is not a reward for the good we have done, so none of us can take any credit for it. It is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others.”

“For by grace you have been saved.” The bottom line is simple, Salvation is not a reward, It is God’s free, unmerited gift. Our faith to believe, our conversion, and our eternal salvation, are not of works that we can do, so that no one can boast. The grace that saves is the free, undeserved goodness and favor of God. He saves through faith in Christ Jesus.
