The Whole Duty of Man

King Solomon was the wisest man who ever lived. He was also one of the most foolish men who ever lived. God gifted Solomon with unsurpassed wisdom, which Solomon squandered by disobeying God's commandments.

Solomon’s Book of Ecclesiastes is filled with wisdom learned during a lifetime of indulging every whim known to man, and seeing the futility of a life without God.

Solomon begins the book, “Meaningless, meaningless, everything is meaningless.” From lessons learned from his own tragic disobedience, he tells us, “Remember your Creator when you’re young, fear him, and keep his commandments.”

Solomon finally repented for turning his back on God, and like his father, King David, he resolved to teach us God’s way. His final words sum up the two basic rules of life: Fear God. Keep His commandments.

If you’re seeking meaning and purpose in your life, listen to these words from the wisest man that ever lived: “The last and final word is this: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
