My late husband, Fred, once preached a message on our weekly television program titled, “Cheap Grace.”
I grew up in a good church, and I memorized Ephesians 2:8 & 9 as a young child. These verses have been the foundation of my life: “For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Think of this profound truth - - we are saved by God’s grace through faith! Salvation is a gift from God, and even the faith to believe is a gift from God! It doesn’t matter if we are rich or poor, Prince or pauper, living in a mansion or living in the slums, we are all the same.
We cannot earn God’s forgiveness. We are sinners, and each one of us much come to God through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ!
Grace has been defined as God’s free, unmerited, undeserved favor. In Fred’s message, “Cheap Grace,” he pointed out the fact that even though God’s grace is free to us, we should never treat it as cheap. It cost Father God the death of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
Here at Fred Jordan Mission, on Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles, we proclaim the free grace of God for salvation. Will you help us?
You may use a credit card when you donate through our secure website, www.fjm.org, or when you phone toll free, 1-844-FJM-FOOD. Or mail your donation to Fred Jordan Mission, PO BOX 12345, COVINA, CA 91722.
God’s grace is FREE, but it is not CHEAP! Thank you for helping us proclaim God’s grace for salvation here on the streets of Skid Row!
Blessings,
Willie Jordan (Mrs. Fred Jordan)
