Have You Ever Spent Thanksgiving Alone?

If you had ever spent Thanksgiving alone, cold, frightened, hungry and huddled in a filthy alley, or in an abandoned car, all I would need to say is, “Please help.”

But because life on Skid Row is more than most of us can relate to, let me tell you that Thanksgiving on Skid Row bears no resemblance to those most of us have experienced. Instead of a table piled high with turkey, dressing, candied yams, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie, most of the men, women and children on Skid Row and the inner city will have no table at all.

Instead of laughter with family and friends, their closest companions will be the cold, their loneliness, and their almost constant despair. In fact, without the help of friends like you, the Thanksgiving season for most people on Skid Row would be pretty thankless.

But because you and other caring friends are willing to help, the Fred Jordan Mission will offer friendship instead of loneliness.

We’ll block off the streets of Skid Row in Los Angeles, set up tables and chairs, and feed homeless, hungry people, just as we have done since 1944, when my late husband, Fred, founded the Mission.

Please join us in prayer as we also share God’s forgiveness and salvation, that many of our homeless friends will come to know Christ.
