Put the Cross on Top
I saw a newspaper picture of a crane with a huge cross dangling from it, as the crane operator tried to lift the cross to the top of a church steeple.
I have a simple message to the contractor: "Bring in a larger crane. Do whatever you have to do, but put the cross on top."
Symbolism is critical, it sends a message – to the church, and to the world – as to what we consider to be most important.
The Apostle Paul wrote, “For Christ sent me to preach the gospel: For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
It is at the cross that our sin meets the grace of God. It is at the cross that God, Himself, through His Son, Jesus Christ, defeats the enemy of our souls. The cross reveals God’s love and God’s glory to sinful mankind.
Keep the cross on top! It is a powerful symbol to the world, proclaiming the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Please help me share the glory of the cross on the wicked streets of Skid Row, for it is the power of God for salvation, to everyone who believes.
Blessings,
Willie Jordan
