Thanksgiving Day
David, the Psalmist wrote: “O give thanks unto the Lord! Pray to Him by name! Tell everyone you meet what He has done!”
I must confess that it is quite a challenge to give thanks to the Lord here on Skid Row, in the midst of the poverty and despair that stalks these streets and alleys. However, thanks to the faithful partnership of friends like you, I have the privilege of telling everyone what God has done through you! Thank you!
When I have asked for help to feed these hungry souls, you have said, “Yes.” When I have needed blankets to keep people warm, you have said, “Yes.” When I have asked for prayer for those we touch, that God will transform their lives, you have said, “Yes.”
When I have asked for prayer for God’s wisdom, His strength and His power, as we fight the forces of evil, you have said, “Yes.”
On this Thanksgiving Day, I am grateful to God for His amazing grace; for my wonderful children and grandchildren; for the opportunity to serve Him by serving the poor - - and I am deeply grateful to God for the precious friends like you who share this vision, and I am profoundly grateful to you who partner with us.
This Thanksgiving season, I can truly say what my late husband, Fred Jordan, often said, “If God never blessed me again, I’ve already received more blessings than any ten men could ever wish for.”
