Are You a Sheep, or a Goat?

QUESTION: If you saw Jesus hungry, would you feed Him? If you saw Jesus thirsty, would you give Him a drink?

Matthew 25 is a parable, where Jesus tells us that when the Son of Man arrives, He will take His place on His throne. All the nations will be arranged before Him, and He will sort the people out, much as a shepherd sorts out the sheep and the goats, putting sheep to His right and goats to His left.

“Then the King will say, ‘I was hungry, and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, Sick and in prison, and you came to me.’

“Then those ‘sheep’ will say, ‘Master, When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? Sick and in prison and come to you?’

Jesus concludes this parable by saying, “I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to the least of these, someone overlooked or ignored, that was me – you did it to me.”

Jesus’ parable shows us that followers of Christ are to serve others, as if they were Christ Himself. We cannot ignore those who are hungry, thirsty, naked, homeless, sickness, or in prison.

However, Jesus always kept in view His purpose in coming to earth, when He said, “For the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost.”

I am deeply grateful for friends like you, who help us serve the poor, and preach the gospel, because the primary purpose of Fred Jordan Mission is “to seek and to save the lost.”
