Skid Row is a Wonderful Place

My late husband, Fred Jordan, often said, "Skid Row is a wonderful place!”

Fred would then explain, "Skid Row is the place where I learned that God's love is real. It is here that I have seen God's love reach down and melt the hardest heart. I have seen His power deliver those who are bound by sin. Here on Skid Row I have seen the gospel work in the hearts and lives of men and women . . . and if the gospel works here, it will work anywhere."

The Fred Jordan Mission is here on Skid Row to share the love of God with those who have been forgotten by family and friends, and rejected by society. Many of our homeless friends on these streets are drug addicts, alcoholics, prostitutes, or drug dealers. Many are ex-convicts who have committed heinous crimes.

But I know that Jesus died on that cruel cross to redeem precious souls on these streets, just as surely as He died for your sins and mine. His resurrection power is just as available to the ex-convict who served decades for a heinous crime, as it is available for you and me.

I also know that we desperately need you to join us in praying that the power of the Holy Spirit will convict men and women of their sins, and draw them to the Savior.

Please, will you pray for us here at the Mission on Skid Row? Will you pray for those we serve? Will you help us share the gospel?

Please go to www.fjm.org to donate your Thanksgiving food offering. Use a credit card or EFT when you donate online, or when you phone toll free, 10844-FJM-FOOD. Or mail your check to me here at Fred Jordan Mission, PO BOX 12345, Covina, CA 91722.

Fred was right: Skid Row is a wonderful place, especially at Thanksgiving, when God’s people join hands and hearts to share God’s love, and feed hungry people. Thank you!

Blessings,

Willie Jordan (Mrs. Fred Jordan)
