Carnegie’s Millions & God’s Free Gift

Andrew Carnegie came to America from Scotland as a small boy, and ended up as the largest steel manufacturer in the United States, with 43 millionaires working for him.

One day a reporter asked Carnegie how he had hired 43 millionaires. Carnegie responded that those men had not been millionaires when they started working for him but had become millionaires as a result.

Carnegie explained that he developed men in the same way one mines gold. When gold is mined, several tons of dirt must be moved to get an ounce of gold; but one doesn't go into the mine looking for dirt--one goes in looking for the gold. He was looking for the gold in each man.

This story reminds of our amazing God. He loved us while we were still sinners, living in the dirt of our sins. God saw beyond our sins. He saw something far more valuable than an ounce of gold, in the tons of dirt in our lives, and through the blood of Jesus, He washed us white as snow.

Carnegie spent his time making millions, and developing millionaires, but God is interested in something far more valuable – He does more than wash away the dirt of our lives – He makes us His child!
