Will you hold me?
The Bethlehem baby was God in the manger. God as a child. God as the Savior. God with us. Jesus came to planet earth for a brief visit. He was born to die, to shed His precious blood on a cruel cross to forgive our sin, to deliver us, and restore our relationship to our Father God.
During the height of World War Two, some U.S. servicemen stationed near London were given time off on Christmas Eve. Walking back to base they passed an orphanage housing many orphans from the horrible bombing of London, and they stopped to visit the children.
They hadn’t planned the visit in advance, so they didn't have “real” gifts to give the children, but they gave each child some small item, like a piece of gum, some candy, a handkerchief, or a pocket knife.
After the men had given away the little things they had, a soldier noticed a child sitting alone. He went over and asked child, "What would you like?" The child answered, "Will you hold me?"
This is what Christmas is all about. Jesus is Immanuel. God with us. God wants to hold us in His safe, secure arms of love for all eternity.
I need your help this Christmas. The Mission is a caring place where love lives. Since 1944, when my late husband, Fred Jordan, founded the Mission, we have served the poor, the hungry and the homeless, but we have never done this alone. We have always worked hand in hand with compassionate friends.
Christmas is just days away, but there is still time to give. Help provide hot Christmas meals, Christmas dinner food bags, blankets, warm clothes and even new toys for little children.
You can donate on our secure website www.fjm.org, or by phone at 1-844- FJM-FOOD. You can also mail a donation to PO Box 12345, Covina, CA, 91722. Please, it’s almost Christmas!
Blessings!
Willie Jordan (Mrs. Fred Jordan)
