“Have you seen the girl in this photo?"

I have had you, my friend and faithful partner, on my mind and heart today.

Each and every month, I reach out to you for prayer – and, daily, I see the effects of your prayers upon people as they find hope through the message of the Gospel.

Each and every month, I reach out to you for support – and, daily, I see the effects of your generous giving as we serve hot meals, family food boxes, clothing, shoes, and essentials to people in need.

I want you to know that I never take your support for granted, and I want you to know that, in return, I pray for you.

Needs are just not here on Skid Row or in poverty-stricken neighborhoods. I know you have needs too. I know you have concerns, possibly fears, worry, doubts, insecurities, pain, heartache, and loss too. We have lived through unprecedented times, and some have come through this time unscathed, but many have not.

A few months ago, I shared with you a story about a man, a father, who was searching for his daughter here on Skid Row. He was at the Mission in hopes of finding her. He showed our staff a photo, asking, “Have you seen the girl in this photo?”

Sadly, we had not.

A few months later, we received word that he finally found his daughter. But she was not alive. She had not survived these harsh, brutal streets. I can’t imagine this dad’s pain. I look at my daughter Brooke and can’t imagine losing her. I would go to any lengths possible to reach her, help her, and save her.

So, as I think about this man and his family, I think about you and the people on the streets of Skid Row. I also think about those in the surrounding communities and reflect on this Scripture:

“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His

grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored

more abundantly than they all, yet not I,

but the grace of God which was with me.”

1 Corinthians 15:10

In gratitude of thankful hearts, I am asking you once again to join me in praying for God’s mercy and grace to pour out over our families, our communities, and our city.

For those who partner with Fred Jordan Missions in prayer and support, “Thank you!” The power of prayer makes all the difference, and your sacrificial giving helps meet the daily physical needs.

I mentioned this to you last month, but the numbers are still growing.

AS OF TODAY, WE ARE SERVING OVER 400% MORE WITH OUR FOOD DISTRIBUTION ON SKID ROW AND IN THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES THAN WE DID IN MARCH OF 2020.

August is hot in Southern California, so we have shifted our food and clothing distribution to include water, fresh fruits and vegetables, climate relief items like socks, shoes, sandals, soap, shampoo, and the list goes on and on.

Your love, prayers, and financial partnership allow us to impact more lives, so, let’s help them! Together, you and I can make a difference.

God Bless,

Joe Jordan
