“Thanks for the coffee and breakfast”

I just received this email from Timotheigh, one of the almost 70,000 homeless who lived in Los Angeles last year. I do not know why he fell on hard times and what drove him to the streets. But “life happens” and, at times, is not fair— especially living in today’s volatile world.

Timotheigh wrote in his email, “I want to thank you for the delicious coffee and breakfast on Saturdays throughout the year on Skid Row. It is always a pleasure to know that friendly faces and good food are waiting at Fred Jordan Mission.”

Smiles, friendly faces, hugs, and a little assurance that “God loves them, and we love them” are sometimes what is needed to bring hope to those who are suffering.

Our Fred Jordan Missions staff is small but mighty, and what you might think is a big organization is not. However, we have a big operation that feeds thousands upon thousands of hungry people throughout the month because we trust in a big God!

I call our staff “Team Jesus,” which consists of 12 dedicated, caring people and a robust roster of volunteers who allow us to accomplish more than you think.

Timotheigh’s email continued, “Believe it or not, Saturday coffee at Fred Jordan Mission is an important thing to many people; it helps people feel like they have friends or perhaps belong to a small community. The generous folks who provided for us should be commended for their hard work, and we sure appreciate the great job that everyone does throughout the year.”

It is stories and letters like this that excite and motivate us to do more. But I realize that none of this could be done without you!

$25 | $50 | $100 | $250 | $500| $1,000

You see, we are the hands and feet that serve and tangibly touch, talk, and show the love of Jesus to each Timotheigh who walks to the door of the mission. But it is you and your generous donations that stock us with coffee and breakfast items, supplies to make hot, nutritious meals, and the clothes, socks, shoes, and blankets we distribute to make others’ lives more comfortable.

Today, I ask you to please never stop caring. I am more committed than ever to declare and demonstrate the love of Jesus to those on Skid Row and in communities from Los Angeles to the Coachella Valley.

You can give a one-time donation of any amount or set up a recurring gift monthly as we move forward to serve even more in 2022.

God Bless,

Joe Jordan
